In 2008, late Commodore John Moore penned an article for the VYC website announcing the establishment of a new Out Station for VYC on Las Animas beach, in the south of Banderas Bay. The El Coral restaurant was selected. Over the past 13 years, the El Coral has been a favorite of many VYC members. Our “Navidad En Playa” beach gatherings have become legendary, with dozens of members and friends heading to Las Animas to enjoy Christmas Day on the beach. Since that day in 2008, the El Coral has proudly flown the VYC burgee. VYC members have donated bocci balls, dominos, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for use by members when they are at the restaurant, and the El Coral has agreed to give VYC members a 10% discount.

During the COVID lockdown, our friends at the El Coral have worked very hard to update their beach restaurant, and have succeeded in making it one of the best beach restaurant/bars in Banderas Bay.

On Saturday, June 26, representatives of VYC went to the El Coral to make a presentation of a new VYC burgee and a special gift: two new mooring balls custom painted with the logos of the El Coral Restaurant and Vallarta Yacht Club. Attending were Commodore Randy Hough, Afloat Director Andy Barrow and VYC member Rodrigo Cuellar Dipp, and accepting for the El Coral Restaurant was manager Alejandro Delgado.

We are all looking forward to many more years of partnership with the El Coral, and many happy trips to the beach at Las Animas.
