Banderas Bay Blast 2022

DAY 1:  Three-class start off La Cruz (If Pigs Could Fly, Plastic Fantasticks, Herding Cats, Those Guys Who Think They Are Fast). Weather Mark approximately 1.5 miles to weather, port rounding and head for mark off Nuevo Vallarta breakwater, port rounding and back to La Cruz. Past the start mark to starboard and finish. Start around 1pm. Listen to VHF channel 72 for on-radio skippers meeting, or attend live skippers meeting at Poolside Deli at La Cruz Marina at 10:30.

Free slips for non-marina residents who normally stay in other marinas (please bring proof). Those who intend to spend the night at Marina La Cruz do need to register with the marina office. 

DAY 1 Evening: There will be a Banderas Bay Meet N’ Greet gathering at the La Cruz Marina amphitheater hosted by Mike, of PV Sailing, Richard Spindler, (Baja Ha Ha / Lat 38 Magazine), and Marina Riviera Nayarit welcoming the Baja Ha Ha and those returning. Join us for the GAM style shout out presented by our sponsoring… Good trouble makers, to find out what is happening around the bay for 2022/23. This is a chance to catch up with old friends, be happy that we’re all back together, and to get ready for some amazing sailing on the bay.

DAY 2:  To weather run to Punta de Mita. Pursuit-start. All boats will receive their start times in the morning, posted at the Poolside Deli and announced after the Morning Cruisers' Net on 72. And Poolside Deli at 10:30

DAY 2 Evening: Seasonal opening of the Punta de Mita Yacht and Surf Club. Membership is $1 and the obligatory paddle spanking by the commodore.

DAY 3 - Pirates for Pupils: Charity event in the morning for school supplies for the local schools. Dress up like a pirate!  Downwind race to Vallarta Yacht Club, pursuit start. Please ask those who crew with you to donate 250 pesos. Start times and skippers meeting will be at El Coral approximately 11am 

DAY 3 Evening: Party at Vallarta Yacht Club - Live band, Great food, and plenty of fun good trouble.

We recognize that anytime that two or more sailboats are going in the same direction, they are usually trying to race each other! We encourage side-bets between competitors, with the loser paying the results to charity. Any bets - first to the mark, last to the mark, first to finish, least number of tacks, whatever! Announce your bet on the radio, talk a little trash, and make it fun.

REMEMBER this is a fun race for charity. Dress up, use your squirt guns, joke around. It's all for the kids.
